Living in Northern VA, our climate is generally fairly mild. We might see snow a few times in the winter, and this weekend was a big one.
We awoke Sunday morning to a nice big fluffy snow layer, and it continued to softly snow throughout the day.
I had originally intended to go out to the path in the woods for this shoot, but as soon as I looked outside, I knew there was no way we would be driving.
The purpose of this project was this AMAZING fabric.
This is another gorgeous print from Wee Little Things Fabric.
I know, I have been favoring their fabric for a while, and I do have some other projects coming up, but I LOVE their prints and their amazing DBP.
This particular project is mostly woven, however.
I chose woven for this project because I knew this print was so delicate and I needed a sturdier pattern to showcase the design. Even though I LOVE knits (DBP!!!), there's just more things you can do with woven sometimes.
Like most of my projects (other than pattern testing), this dress is a mix of patterns.
The bodice of this dress is the Bellevue from Little Lizard King.
I love those back crossing straps and flutters!
The skirt is the amazing double layered circle skirt from Little Lizard King's Aarhus.
Understandably, there are no twirly pictures this time...but the skirt is still very full and falls beautifully.
The undershirt is actually the Galena dress from Little Lizard King! I LOVE to use it as a layer!
I just happened to have the perfect color solid knit fabric in my stash already....it was just waiting for this project. For years.
I had one little strip of blue knit fabric left over, so it became the perfect little headband for warming those sweet little ears.
If you've been paying attention, you'll know that little miss fashionista requires no less than one bracelet every day.
Today was an EVERY BRACELET day.
I guess being cute in snow flutters IS possible, no matter how much I dislike snow.
Happy Sewing!
