Baby Hampton

It's finally here!! It's NEW RELEASE day!!

Today is the new release of the Baby Hampton from Simple Life Pattern Co! It is ON SALE now through Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

I'm not going to lie, I've made the girls Hampton for this little one in the past, but she's still an inch or two too small, so I can definitely tell it's big on her.

Before we dive into this pattern, the fabric used for this project comes from Wanderlust Designs Custom Fabric, but I grabbed it about 2.5 years ago. I do love the quality, customer service, and artwork from Wanderlust though, so definitely check them out if you haven't heard of them.

Now let's discuss some of the things I LOVE about the Baby Hampton, besides the fact that my little one can now fit in the Hampton design!

The back!! I love interesting back detailing on clothing. It's easier to make intricate designs with woven material, because it's sturdier, but I love the ease and fit of knit. When I get a good knit pattern with back detailing, I'm instantly smitten.

Those sleeves!!! I love loose fit sleeves! Whether they're peasant, bishop, poet style....I love them all. AND bonus points if they end in a cuff, rather than elastic! Those baby sizes can be difficult though, so it might be easier to sew the sleeve flat, and then do the side seam all the way down to the cuff. It won't look as finished, but beginner sewists might find it much easier.

There are a few different skirt designs for this pattern, but my favorite is definitely the high-low-high circle skirt. Asymmetry is so interesting to look at, and I love to be able to have a pattern that highlights this.

All around, this pattern is a knock out, and brings the Hampton design down to those adorable baby sizes.

Happy Sewing!!
