Little Red

This post is so fun for me.

I often call Eden my little "Robertson Red". She has the same coloring as her cousin, her Auntie Lissa, and her Grandpa.

She's my little strawberry, and I LOVE it.

Now a few months ago when we were in limbo, I came across a little family information. I can't remember why or how. I just remember my sister saying something along the lines of, "Clan Robertson in Scotland is huge." Then something about family castles and stuff.

I learned a little bit about how Clan Robertson is an ancient powerful clan, and....we even have our own special tartan patterns!!

I was on a Clan Robertson gift shop page, and saw some adorable kilts and capes.

I decided to look for this 'Robertson Red" tartan sold by the yard rather than already made into kilts.....and sure enough, I FOUND not only Robertson Red but Robertson Hunting Green sold by the yard!

I immediately ordered it, and I'm not going to lie, it sat there for WEEKS waiting for me to make up my mind on what it wanted to be.

The solution hit me in the face when I drafted Clover for Sunflower Seams.

No, I didn't think it would be a Clover, but up until this time I thought it would maybe be a dress or pinafore. When I drafted the shirt, I realized it could be a skirt.

I was lucky enough that the new Bramble from Sunflower Seams also became available and I just KNEW it was perfect for the tartan, with its built in pettiskirt.

I was so excited about this outfit, and I still LOVE it.

It's such. special sew for me, with our family history, and her coloring, and I've been calling her Robertson Red for a few years, and the tartan pattern just happens to be called Robertson Red...

I will definitely need to snag a yard of the Robertson Hunting Green for winter......

Happy Sewing!!
