End of the Year Sews

It's the week after Christmas, and I'm not going to kid myself. This is probably the last little blurb I write for the year.

ree

So I'm just gonna show off all the little things I've made.......that I CAN share right now. *wink*

ree

Yeah, they're all Eden, and some cute mashes of patterns, mostly mine.

ree

But just know that soon enough I'll get to share more of my kiddos.

ree

Most of these are Christmas outfits, and she has been wearing them all season.

ree

We've loved every moment of it!

ree

I love.....that at the beginning of the year, I was testing patterns and strike sewing....

ree

....which was always amazing and exciting and so much fun.

ree

...and yet now I have enough patterns released that I can mash them however I want.

ree

Guys.......I hated this year.

ree

I still hate this year.

ree

I'll hate this year ten years from now.

ree

This will always be the year that I was supposed to return to my favorite place in the entire world, and be with some of my best friends I've ever had......and DIDN'T.

ree

This was the year that Eden got through her chronic benign neutropenia, and was STILL told NO, with no reason.

ree

This is the year that she was considered 'too sick' to go to a first world country with excellent medical care....and has not required a single moment of medical care the entire rest of the year.

ree

So what did we do?

ree

I went insane.

ree

On top of continuing our homeschooling adventure, we bought a 100yr old home that needs updates.

ree

It's a gorgeous home, it is. It's completely livable and comfortable.

ree

We completely redid all of the hardwood flooring...a massive project that took us about 3 weeks before we moved in.

ree

After our giant scramble of household goods (what a MESS), we got all of our belongings that DIDN'T go to Japan without us moved in with the help of friends we hadn't even MET yet!

ree

And then....just a day or two later, Greg left for Japan without us.

ree

I spent a while unpacking boxes (I only have a few left!) but also began updating work.

ree

I started with the stair spindles, just because they were fast and easy, and I needed fast and easy because we also started homeschool community the same week.

ree

Ooooh, oh yeah.......Also my second pattern released that week too...

ree

How could I forget that in the middle of crazy, I decided to learn how to draft and write sewing patterns??

ree

I think it's going well. Probably.

ree

I do love to design my own stuff, and Eden is the perfect doll model (even though she can't take a 'normal' picture).

ree

Anyways, the rest of the year was mostly just tons of school, getting the dining room finished (last finishing touch was completed Christmas Eve!), lots of work, lots of feeling sad that all my friends were hanging out without me. You know, normal stuff.

ree

This next year...maybe it'll be better. Hopefully.

ree

Greg will be returning stateside. We have an idea of where he will be coming, and it's closer than California, so yay. (Don't ask, you know I won't tell till it's more official than 'penciled in'.)

ree

Celestes bird collection began laying eggs, so that's cool too.

ree

As I'm writing this, Kevin and Richard are building my master bathroom, getting it prepped for me. I hired them for complete demo, and building/prepping. I will be doing all the the tiling and mudding and painting work. Stuff I know how to do.

ree

Maybe soon I'll be able to relax in my clawfoot tub...and SHOWER in my own bathroom! Haha (there was no shower in there at all)

ree

I guess most of all, I don't have crushing expectations.....like expecting to return to my Japan.

ree

So goodbye 2021. You were not my favorite year, and I don't think I'll be sad to see you leave.

ree

Happy Sewing!!

-Shelley
